Immanuel Kant dan Tiktok: Menganalisis Relevansi Imperatif Kategoris dalam Pembentukan Moralitas Generasi Z

Abstract
The increasingly modern and complex world also influences the formation of moral values among the younger generation. This study analyzes the relevance of Immanuel Kant’s Categorical Imperative in shaping the morality of Generation Z (Gen Z). The main issue examined is how Gen Z’s morality is formed through the TikTok application and whether Kant’s Categorical Imperative remains relevant in this process. This research aims to assess the formation of Gen Z morality through one of the social media platforms, namely TikTok. The method used is philosophical-descriptive analysis, with data obtained through literature studies of Immanuel Kant’s works and observations of Gen Z’s moral behavior on TikTok. The findings show that Gen Z’s morality in using TikTok tends to contradict Kant’s Categorical Imperative. Various viral trends and actions on TikTok cannot be formulated as universal laws. This contradiction leads to moral actions that are more based on self-recognition through likes, comments, and content monetization rather than universal moral principles. The dominance of social media algorithms also shifts moral standards and influences Gen Z’s mindset. The relevance of this study lies in its contribution to the moral education of Generation Z in using social media, particularly TikTok, thereby encouraging the creation of a more ethical and civilized digital space.
Abstrak
Dunia yang semakin modern dan kompleks turut memengaruhi pembentukan moralitas generasi muda. Penelitian ini menganalisis relevansi Imperatif Kategoris Immanuel Kant dalam pembentukan moralitas Generasi Z (Gen Z). Masalah utama yang dikaji adalah bagaimana moralitas Gen Z terbentuk melalui aplikasi TikTok dan apakah Imperatif Kategoris Kant masih relevan dalam proses tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai pembentukan moralitas Gen Z melalui salah satu platform media sosial, yaitu TikTok. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis filosofis-deskriptif dengan data yang diperoleh melalui studi literatur atas karya-karya Immanuel Kant dan pengamatan perilaku moral Gen Z di TikTok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa moralitas Gen Z dalam penggunaan TikTok cenderung berkontradiksi dengan Imperatif Kategoris Kant. Berbagai tren dan tindakan viral di TikTok tidak dapat dijadikan hukum universal. Kontradiksi ini mendorong tindakan moral yang lebih didasarkan pada pengakuan diri melalui likes, komentar, dan monetisasi konten daripada pada prinsip moral universal. Dominasi algoritma media sosial turut menggeser standar moral dan memengaruhi pola pikir Gen Z. Relevansi penelitian ini terletak pada kontribusinya bagi pendidikan moral generasi Z dalam penggunaan media sosial, khususnya TikTok, sehingga dapat mendorong terciptanya ruang digital yang lebih etis dan beradab.
