Diskursus Nasib Pekerja Keras dan Budak dalam Amsal 12: 24 dan Hikmat Meop Onle Ate - Tah Onle Usif
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research comparatively examines the wisdom values contained in Proverbs 12:24 from the Bible and meop onle ate, tah onle usif, a traditional proverb from the Dawan tribe in East Nusa Tenggara. These two wisdom traditions converge on a universal theme: the destiny of the hard worker who ultimately attains success and leadership, which stands in stark contrast to the condition of the “slave” who is shackled by laziness or oppressive life circumstances. The primary objective of this research is to delve into the essence of both wisdoms to form a positive perspective and work ethic for facing the future. The method used is library research with content analysis techniques applied to primary text sources and relevant supporting literature. The analysis results show that although they originate from different sources one religious and one cultural both distinctly differentiate two opposing status entities. The hard worker is depicted as obtaining prosperity, honor, and authority. Conversely, a “slave” can only change their fate by abandoning laziness and choosing the path of hard work.
